Ten people showed for this year’s buildering comp. Not a bad turnout considering it was held three weeks after the last day of school and was rescheduled due to rain. As usual I’m to blame for the tardiness. Of course I LIVE and BREATHE buildering, but some times other things like eat, sleep, and video games get in the way.
There were eight problems in total, which Grant informed me “are all hard”. Everyone sent at least one problem, and Grant sent everything. So did Tim. We spent a good portion of the night looking for a bonus tie breaker. Nothing worked. The only unclimbable problem was Belkin North Drainage, which defeated both equally.
We headed to the bar to celebrate and hand out prizes. After several jugs we were ready to climb again, this time some highball stuff that is too scary to do sober. My favorite photo of the night is from this drunken session, with Grant about to throw a broken antenna on James, and a sickly looking Todd in the corner. Not my finest photo, but it captures the essence of the night. We climbed into the wee hours of the morning, stumbled upon the set of some upcoming T.V. series “Tower Prep” (it looks terrible), and then try to find our way home well after public transit had shut down.
