Because I was fortunate enough to session with the UK UF Crew last summer, I often get asked how our skills compare with theirs. Someone will do a move and ask me, “can the UK guys do that?” My usual answer is, “well the UK guys have been doing PK longer, and are more fluid.”

However, after seeing some of the skills displayed in this most recent PK jam, I can honestly say that we have arrived. Congratulations guys, I was utterly astounded. Fast, fluid, and for what Canucks lack in formal training we make with in cajones.

Special mention goes out to Shane, a black belt kung-fu instructor who showed up for the session in a pair of flimsy martial arts slippers. With those very slippers he launched the biggest gap I have ever seen…and not just once but twice. This gap was on the scale of the infamous David Belle Manpower gap, minus the cushy pea-gravel landing. 20-25ft to concrete wearing soleless slippers!

I think we all pushed our limits this day. The fearsome Fatman Gap (a four story to three story drop, with a 4ft x 4ft landing area) fell to a chosen few. Congratulations Dan, Kona, Morgan, Dane, and well…myself for making the leap. Sorry, no photos of that one yet, although there is some great video footage. Look forward to Canada’s very own PK video in the near future.
