On September 20th, 2003, a few Vancouver based parkour people organized the city’s first jam.
I’m not sure who applied the term “jam” to a parkour gathering, but it works. Random people meet and play together. Everyone watches each others moves, and pick up tips on how to improve.
There was about 8 of us in total, and we headed up to SFU to check out the nice concrete architecture there. We played around on a few rooftops, found a couple interesting gaps, and practiced some cat leaps, rolls, and dive rolls.
Definitely an introductory meet up to what will surely grow into a thriving scene. Parkour has a lot of potential for new movements, everyone is in the learning stage at this point, which is an exciting place to be.
Ard waiting at the Broadway skytrain station for people to arrive.
