Hey guys,

First of all i just want to introduce myself, im Jay live in the county of Surrey nr London. I came across the sport of Buildering today, have no experience of climbing whatsoever and if im honest im too pig headed to go learn before i just jump straight in the deep end whatever your opinions may be on that.

So basically im looking for some tips, what equipment if any i should get and if anyone lives local to "mentor" me Laughing out loud

Jay xx

Hey Jay. Welcome to the site. Go forth and climb. Natural fear response mechanisms should keep you alive. They've gotten you this far. If you ever decide you want to learn a few techniques, go visit the bouldering section of your local climbing gym pimp

Yea so I love watching parkour and just discovered buildering. I looked all around town and nothing looks good instead of an aprtment. So I climbed up to a balcony and I used something with the edge the size of a popcycle stick. I love to climb trees and those are thick with lots of branches. Well once I got to the top I was scared that the cops would find me so I looked and looked for a way down but couldn. Find it so I attempted to go back the way I came and found it easy. Well ever since then I wanna climb more and more and go higher and higher. I found an old furniter store that has a pipe going to it's roof. It doesn't move when I shake it and I really wanna try it. The only two caustions are falling and that the power for the building connects right beside the poll. I doubt I could jump the gap between the two buildings so what should I do to climb this one. Also what sort of things do you look for when going to climb. Tell me EVERYTHING please. Like my name says I am self trained. I will write a letter also to Obama asking to pass a law alwoing people to do things like parkour and buildering. I can't wait to get my injurys from a biking incident to heal so I can get back out there. spidey

DON'T climb it. Climbing near power lines = bad news. See: http://www.buildering.net/node/793

For more general tips, just have a look through the site and forums. There's lots of advice in here, and I can't be bothered to repeat myself. One easy one: join a climbing gym, or go rock-climbing with someone who knows what they are doing. You'll learn 90% of what you need to know by doing one of these things.

Please, for the love of God, send me a copy of this letter as well!
