Welcome to the new forums.
Over the last couple weeks, web guru extraordinaire Owen Loy has offered to do some free work on buildering.net, on the sole condition that he can blog about his experience. Good deal. Check out his blog: http://www.turtle.ca
One thing Owen has done is migrate the old Ikonboard forum database over to the new Drupal database. What does that mean for you, the end user? Well, now you've got a single login for the site, and a leaner, meaner, albeit slightly uglier (until I tweak the CSS) forum. Yay right? Right.
Forum users who didn't have a site account, login using your forum username and password. Users who had both a forum account and a site account, use your site username and password.
Oh, because everything is in the same database now, that means that little searchy search thing at the top right of your screen will now search through the forum posts as well.
Neato!
Isn't it cool? AND you can do do neat things now, like promote forum posts to the front page (like this one). I'm such a nerd.
A very good thing. And happens like two or three days after I had to sign up twice, argh -- didn't know at first the actual site had different account than the forum. Glad to see that's a thing of the past, now.
if you happen to have an old forums account that didn't have the same name as your buildering account let me know and i can sync those. from what i could see though everyone chose the same username, which made it a bit easier! (thank you!)
Just a small bug. When you first go to the forums (ie, here - http://buildering.net/forum/ ) it always shows the last post having been made by 'Guest'. Guessing this is a drupal bug..?
Yeah, twas a drupal forum module bug. Hopefully they come out with an official fix for it in the next release, in the mean time I've hacked in a fix.
Thanks.

Nice work.
